Press Release: Debate Team Fares Well in First Tournament

PRESS RELEASE–Congratulations Grossmont Speech & Debate team competing at the Point Loma University and Southwestern College, swing tournament, held Feb. 1-3, 2013. 38 Colleges and Universities attended. 26 Four year Universities competed. UCLA, University of Notre Dame, William Jewell, Western Washington, University of Utah,and University of Nebraska to name a few.

The following students placed in their respective categories:

Mayte Gutierrez:     2nd place:  Open Program Oral Interpretation (Southwestern)

*Cole Steffensen:     2nd place speaker award in Jr. Parliamentary debate (Pt. Loma)

Mayte Gutierrez:     Finalist in Open Poetry (Southwestern)

*Cole Steffensen:     Double-Octo Finalist in Jr. Parliamentary debate (Pt. Loma)

Samuel Thomas:      Double-Octo Finalist in Jr. Parliamentary debate (Pt. Loma)

Cameron Martin:       Finalist in Open Communication Analysis (Pt. Loma)

Ali Majed Aldhalimi:  Finalist in Open Program Oral Interpretation (Pt. Loma)

 Great Work:  Darron DeVillez, John Price
