Students get paid with pizza to participate in music video

Stacked extra-large pizzas and members of the Foundation for Grossmont and Cuyamaca Colleges encouraged students to take part in the filming of a video in the quad on April 7th.

The foundation holds a much deeper purpose than to fulfill students’ appetite, however.  Its ultimate focus is to develop campaigns and events that seek donations for the advancement of education. The video in progress is specifically for the Give a Dream organization which provides emergency grants for students with unforeseen financial hardships who desire to continue their education.

The music video will showcase students in a fun way while encouraging viewers to donate to the organization.  Video participants portrayed energetic and active student life with their peers.  Some were asked to sing, dance, read lines, and show off their personalities for the camera.  The video is intended to go viral; it will be uploaded to YouTube, Facebook, college websites, and shared via other social media by students.

“It’s a great way to unite the colleges and have fun in the process”, said CEO of the foundation John Valencia at the filming of the video.  The video is not only aimed to gain donors for emergency grants, but also to bring awareness to financially troubled students from the two East County colleges.

The video will launch in May, and premieres will be shown at both Grossmont and Cuyamaca College campuses.  Students who would like to participate in the video have another chance to at the upcoming filming on Sunday April 27 at Grossmont Center.  Details can be found at givethedream.net.
