GROSSMONT COLLEGE–One goal was the difference for the Women’s Soccer team between leading the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and standing third in the rankings.
When the Lady Griffins played Mesa College on Tuesday, they were standing at the top of the rankings with an 8-1-1 record.
Matters started well on Tuesday, Oct. 26, with Ashley Schramm scoring the first goal on an assist from Annie Roberts in the first half of a game at Grossmont Stadium.
But the second half was a different story. An energized Mesa player –Brenda Coronel–scored two goals, the first on an assist by Katyna Angle; the second on an assist by Joanna Ortega.
The 1-2 defeat for Grossmont put its League record at 8-2-1. Another league game, against Palomar, will be played tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 29).
