Faculty voters elect Sue Gonda to Academic Senate presidency

Staff Report 

GROSSMONT COLLEGE –History Prof. Sue Gonda  has been elected president of the Academic Senate for the 2011-13 term, it was announced on Tuesday, Nov. 2, by Earth Sciences Prof. Chris Hill, the incument in that offie.

Gonda was unopposed for the position, although write-in ballots were possible in the electronic voting conducted recently.

Between now and June 1, when Gonda’s term begins, she and Hill will work together to assure a smooth transition, Hill said.   During that period as well, Academic Senate officers to serve with Gonda also will be elected.

“We would also like to congratulate and welcome the two newly-elected part-time divisional senators, Kirin Farquar (English, Social and Behavoiral Sciences) and Narges Heidari (Student Services),”  Hill said.  “They will serve a one-yer term and join other divisional senators in representing part-time faculty on bot the Academic Senate and the Part-time Faculty Committee.”
