CARLSBAD (Press Release)– Lisa Berger, a Grossmont College theatre arts instructor, has been tapped to direct “Simpatico,” a play by Sam Shepard, this upcoming 10th season of New Village Arts in Carlsbad.
Kristianne Kurner, NVA’s executive artistic director, describes Berger as a director “known for her ability to take edgy stories and tell them with compassion, humanity and humor.”
“Simpatico” tells a story about the underside of horse racing. It will play March 2-27 at New Village Arts Theatre, 2787 State Street, Carlsbad.
In addition to teaching at Grossmont, Berger also teachers at Mira Costa College, San Diego City College and at New Villarge Arts. Her San Diego directing credits include Things We Want (New Village Arts), Killer Joe (Compass Theatre: Patte Award), Miss Julie and The Corpse Bride (Stone Soup), ANON(ymous) and Crimes of the Heart (Canyon Crest Academy), Buried Child (UCSD), The Long Christmas Ride Home (Patte Award) and Looking for Normal (Diversionary Theatre), Handbag (AASD), The Pirates of Penzance (Lyric Opera Academy), and Islands of Repair (NYC Fringe).
