CxRis nervous before shows but alter ego takes over

Reported by Nicolle Fedor

GROSSMONT COLLEGE — Audio major and young entrepreneur Chris Jansen is starting to create quite a buzz for himself both online and in the streets.

At just 19 years old, Jansen, better known by his alter ego CxRis, has done over 20 live performances and has over 400 fans on Facebook.

In just 5 short years, CxRis has developed a style and sound unique to his outgoing and creative personality, which he displayed this month at local San Diego event venue, 4th & B. As a self-proclaimed independent artist, CxRis spends the majority of his time in his studio, Studio 1907, creating beats, laying down lyrics, and promoting his work via YouTube and ReverbNation.

When asked why he chose rapping as a profession, he simply stated, “I live for the music. I live to perform. I love to entertain.”

While attending Grossmont College, CxRis has fine-tuned his knowledge of audio through increased daily application and use of terminology. Audio Instructor jIM Papageorge supports his students and even took time outside of class to attend CxRis’ evening show. This type of educational crossover where the classroom meets the streets has been a great way to implement skills learned and acquired throughout the semester.
