Basketball team closes out dismal season on a high note

GROSSMONT COLLEGE –After a one point 77-76 loss to Palomar back in early February the Griffins went on a tear. They won five straight games to close out the regular season. The average margin of victory for the last three games was 18 points. They ended the season on a high note beating cross town and long time rival San Diego Mesa College 72-54 finishing the season with a 13-11 record.

The dismal won-loss tally wasn’t nearly enough to spring them into post-season contention. But the small gleam of hope was turning the last five games around and ending on a high note, sending those second year sophomores off with a little bit of pride and a little something to remember, and hopefully ending with some momentum that could potentially carry over to next season.

Something to consider this year: The Grossmont College Griffins had 4 players throughout the season named Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Players of the week , including young freshman standout Tim Patrick. The names for the PCAC all-conference team have yet to be announced.
