Take a stroll into the library and let your school troubles drift away as you go “back to nature” through crafts.
Nature-themed activities are planted, pun intended, around the first floor of the library and include zines, collaborative coloring, rock painting, a seed library and a sticker art project. They will continue through the rest of the semester while supplies last.
Students can make their zines at the table to the left of the reference desk. Nature zines are personalized mini-magazines that combine artwork with fun facts or information.
The collaborative coloring is located behind the reference desk. The coloring page spans an entire table, allowing students to sit and color alone or with friends.
If student feel they have looked at a screen for too long, they can transfer all their creativity that has been locked away through painting rocks. This activity is located behind the stairs.
Direct your focus solely to the colors on the zine, table or rock, and clear your mind of all that contributes to your stress, even if it’s just for a little while.
The library also features a hidden section behind the stairs. There, students can look through the wide variety of plant seeds native to California, take a few home, and plant them wherever their hearts desire, following the instructions displayed on the package.
The stick-together art project is completed, and there are no stickers left. However, students can view the finished artwork on the stairs of the library, displayed in the window.
Take advantage of all the resources and activities the library has to offer in Building 70.
