GROSSMONT COLLEGE (Press Release)–The Career Center will host “Career Week” from Oct. 10 to 14. The theme of this year’s “Career Week” is “Your Road to Success.” The event will include workshops,clinics, presentations and panel discussions designed to provide information about career and industry trends and help students achieve their career goals.
“Our goal is that Career Week will create excellent opportunities for students to network, discover skills and learn job search strategies,” said Nancy Davis, Career Center student development services supervisor. “We want to help students gain a glimpse into the working world.”
On Monday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., four clinics will be held on such topics as interview techniques, dressing for success, salary negotiation and resume writing. On Tuesday, Oct. 11, two workshops are planned. “Career Starts & Transactions” will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Career Center, Building #36, Room #346. “Interested in Health Professions” will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Health and Sciences Complex, Building #34, Room #207.
On Wednesday, Oct. 12,the annual “Career Expo” event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12 in the Main Quad with approximately 30 exhibitors. It will be the college’s 33rd annual Career Expo. On Thursday, Oct. 13, two workshops are planned. “Social Media Do’s and Don’ts” will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Career Center, Building #36, Room #346. “Community College 2 University,” a workshop about transferring to the University of California San Diego, will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Main Quad.
On Friday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., approximately 30 high school students from Sweetwater High School in Chula Vista who are interested in a career path in healthcare will tour the college’s Health and Sciences Complex.
