Holiday fete planned for children of impoverished students

-Staff Report-

GROSSMONT COLLEGE – The winter holidays don’t come for another two months, but leaders in the Associated Students of Grossmont College and in the CalWORKS program already are planning an on-campus party Friday, Dec. 9, at Griffin Gate, for the children of impoverished students.

To make the party success, these officials are calling on the campus community—faculty, staff, and students—to consider donating toys so that these boys and girls and their parents can receive holiday presents. Toys for recipients 10 and over are in particular demand, because there is no program equivalent to the one for children under 10 operated by the Marine Corps Toys for Tots.

Staff members Gerardette Nutt and Kitty Walden have issued a statement saying, “We are asking for gift cards, certificates and/or merchandise, possible gift baskets for the teens and student/parents.” They may be reached for further information respectively at (619) 644-7785 and (619) 644-7733.
