Grossmont Speech and Debate Team Tournament

The Grossmont Speech and Debate team made huge achievements during their recent tournament.

This past February was a big month for the Grossmont Speech and Debate team. During the last weekend of the month, they placed third out of 17 community colleges that participated in the PSCFA Spring Champs Tournament held at Mt. San Antonio College.

Some of the Griffins on the team took home several individual awards as well. Atia Fairuz, Athena Kendzor and Angela Yue took home the gold for the Open International Public Debate Association (IPDA) Debate, and Fairuz and Yue also got the gold for the Open Parliamentary Debate.

Kendzor and Adrain Guzman won silver for the Open Parliamentary Debate, and Will Harris clinched the bronze for the Open IPDA Debate. Harris also won first in Open Program Oral Interpretation and second in Open Speech to Entertain, while Yue took home second place for the Speaker Award Parliamentary Debate.

Both Guzman and Nima Touissi received the Scholar Award for maintaining a high GPA and competing in more than three tournaments.
Congratulations to Grossmont’s Speech and Debate team on reaching these achievements.
