On Tuesday, Dec. 7, Grossmont College art students came together to celebrate their hard work. Friends and family attended a special reception for the Fall 2021 Student Art Exhibition. Many different forms of art were featured in the exhibition, including painting, sketches, ceramics, sculptures, photography, digital art and jewelry. Most of the student art pieces on display in the gallery were for sale.

The reception included a small trio of musicians, entertaining the crowd with a mix of jazz covers and Christmas classics. Gallery Director Alex DeCosta eventually brought guests together for an awards ceremony. Many Grossmont faculty members gave out awards to students, including Grossmont President Denise Whisenhunt.

Throughout the evening, 21 awards were given out to Grossmont students. The reception also had a “People’s Choice” raffle, and winners were announced the next day.

The Student Art Exhibition runs through Dec. 17.
