GROSSMONT COLLEGE—Some people who care enough about the welfare of Grossmont and Cuyamaca students to donate money to attend the “Fifty & Fantabulous” fundraiser may not let their generosity be limited to paying admission to the event on Saturday evening, Oct. 22.
Some who pay either the $175 general rate, or $87.50 rate for faculty and staff, may also become involved in the bidding for auction prizes that will raise more money for the two colleges.
One example: An overnight stay for two couples in the private 2-bedroom suite at the San Diego Zoo, a stay that will include a guided behind the scene visit with lions, tigers and bears.
Other items up for bid include a San Diego Charger jersey autographed by Vincent Jackson #83; tickets for four to the Holiday Bowl; a Central California getaway including a tour of Hearst Castle and a night at the Santa Ynez Marriott; a week-long trip to Club Cascadas de Baja; a Taylor SolidBody Electric Guitar, and a Canon EOS Rebel XS 1000D Camera.
The fundraiser, which will be held in Grossmont College’s Health and Science Complex and to which attendees are encourage to “wear your college attire,” will include live music and a raffle in addition to the auction. There also will be hor d’oeuvres including seafood, vegetarian and poultry selections as well as gourmet desserts.
