Tim Patrick has made headlines yet again with a new four-year $30 million contract, and well deserved, if I might add.

Those who may not have read my piece back in early October on Patrick might want to know this top-tier NFL wideout played right here for the Griffins, and graduated from University City High in the Clairemont and La Jolla Village area.

Patrick came into the season on the last year of his contract and was looking to add to his resume another stellar season as he had in 2020 with 79 targets and 0 drops. Anyone who knows football knows this is not something that comes easy to a wideout in the NFL, and Patrick has worked incredibly hard to sign this fantastic contract– and things only look to improve for him from here on out.

Patrick is leading the Denver Broncos in touchdown receptions and second in receiving yards, so it’s safe to say this organization had no choice but to re-sign this man before the off-season because another team would have picked him up in a heartbeat. Patrick is also on pace to break his record from last year as he has 61 targets and 0 drops this season and plenty of more games on the schedule to accumulate at least 20 more targets.

When Head Coach Vic Fangio was asked in a press conference earlier in the year about Patrick’s dominance in his role on offense, he said: “His toughness, he wins the ball… I’ve always just thought Tim Patrick was just a hell of a receiver.”

Patrick is showing the NFL what a San Diego native is capable of on the big stage, and coming from such humble beginnings here at Grossmont is just truly impressive. We couldn’t be prouder here at The Summit.
