Don’t Worry, Griffin Darlings

Spoiler-free review of “Don’t Worry Darling”

With twists, turns and shocking surprises, “Don’t Worry Darling” promises to entertain and bewilder anyone who witnesses it.
In the second feature film she directed, Olivia Wilde showcases a psychological thriller featuring a cast of stars including Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan and Wilde herself.
The plot follows married couple Jack and Alice, played by Styles and Pugh respectively, who appear to be living their best lives. Suddenly, Alice starts to notice things are becoming a little strange in her housewife routine and she searches for answers, refusing to give up until she discovers what is truly happening.
Different from Wilde’s first movie, “Booksmart,” this newest film is something not a lot of people were expecting from her. Many viewers have gone viral filming their reactions before the movie and after, most having jaw-dropping receptions finishing the film that runs just over two hours. In a quote with Vogue Wilde herself claims the film is like “‘The Feminine Mystique’ on acid.”
While the film’s cast is amazing, there were also a lot of behind-the-scenes drama during its production. Fortunately, the film still turned out great and all of the cast members were able to make it work. Pugh was outstanding in this film, as she is in all her other films. Styles is not a huge actor, but he drew the audience in, making everyone question his moral compass the whole time. Pine knew how to keep everyone on their toes throughout the movie, showing a new side to him. Wilde gave us many plot twists we did not expect and made a great addition overall. Chan also delivered an outstanding performance with a major plot reveal at the end.
This movie was entertaining, but also a lot to take in with some strange, trippy parts that stretch the viewers’ minds. This is a movie you do not want to leave for a second, even for a bathroom break, because you will not want to miss a single scene.
