The 2026 NBA Playoffs have been filled with world class basketball and intense battles between the best. This is the highest level of basketball being played and it has been everything fans can ask for. This playoff run has included dominant performances, upsets from under-dogs, and intense game 7 battles. As we get closer to the NBA Finals, the New York Knicks have clearly emerged as the front runner for the championship, while the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs are still battling it out in a back and forth series.
The Knicks have clearly been the most dominant team during these playoffs and only struggled with the Atlanta Hawks. New York swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, punching their ticket to the NBA Finals with a dominant 103-93 victory in game 4 to close the series. The series sweep punched New York’s ticket to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999 and extended their postseason winning streak to 10 consecutive games.Â
The Western Conference Finals have been neck and neck and is clearly the most competitive series of the entire postseason. The defending champion, Oklahoma City, had the chance to close the door on San Antonio after taking a 3-2 lead due to a MVP like performance from back to back MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but ultimately, could not finish as the Spurs dominated and earned a 118-91 Game 6 victory to force a Game 7. Star player Victor Wembanyama led the charge with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks, adding onto his strong playoff run.Â
This playoff run has also had several historic moments. Multiple different series ended up being decided by a Game 7 and young stars have put their stamp on the game as we move closely towards the next generation of basketball stars. Gilgeous-Alexander, Paola Banchero, and Cade Cunningham have all dominated under the bright lights. The future of the NBA is in great hands and these playoffs have showcased their abilities.Â
Everyone will now look towards Game 7 between the Thunder and the Spurs. The winner will advance to the NBA Finals to face a New York Knicks team who will surely be well rested. This will be one of the most exciting NBA Finals in recent years and whether it’s gonna be the Knicks finishing their fairy tale like run, or the Thunder going back-to-back, or Wembanyama and the Spurs making it back to dominance, the 2026 NBA Playoffs have created unforgettable moments as the highest level of the sport is on full display.
