‘Unstoppable’ worth a family stop by the movie theatre

EL CAJON, California-Unstoppable  stars Academy Award winner Denzel Washington and Chris Pine as two men attempting to stop an out-of-control train with dangerous cargo aboard.

The premise was inspired by a 2001 incident involving a  47-car CSX Transportation freight train, which raced unmanned across Ohio train tracks. With a fair share of Hollywood flair the movie beefs up the factual situation.

The movie very much reminded me of a film I viewed in 2009 also  starring Denzel Washington: The Taking of Pelham 123.  Pelham 123 tells the story of a subway worker attempting to stop a hijacked metroline.  As in Unstoppable the movie centered on a veteran on his way out staking it all to halt the out- of-control locomotive.

Whatever the movie lacks, it makes up for in acting, suspense and emotional connection. I suggest Unstoppable as a good film to see on a date or family outing.
