WASHINGTON, D.C. (USANN4)–Winter weather is not just having an effect on the highways and airways. Tens of thousands of military veterans in college have not received the February payments they are due under the G-I Bill. The Virginian Pilot newspaper reports that severe snowstorms at check-processing centers across the country are to blame.
About 55,000 students still await their money, which helps pay for tuition and living expenses. The Department of Veterans Affairs says the check-processing centers have reopened. The checks will be going out in seven to 10 days.
