Toy rifle prompts scare on Texas A&M campus

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (USANN4)–A man with a replica weapon triggered a scare  Thursday at Texas A & M University.   A partial lockdown and campus-wide alert system went into effect after a bus driver spotted what he thought was a man carrying an AK-47.   However, an hour-and-a-half later, authorities issued an all-clear.   Business resumed as normal at the university in College Station, Texas.

Texas A & M has an enrollment of over 49,000 students.   It is home to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets.
