Man faces death penalty in sexual assault and murder of Northern Illinois University freshman

DEKALB, Illinois (USANN4) — An Illinois man is facing the death penalty if convicted of the murder of a college freshman.   William Curl is accused of killing Northern Illinois University freshman Antinette “Toni” Keller.   Curl, who is in jail on $5 million bail, has been charged with first-degree murder, sexual assault, and arson.

The 18-year-old Keller was last seen October 14th.   Two days later, burned human remains were found near the university in DeKalb, 65 miles west of Chicago.   Police have not positively identified the remains as Keller’s.
