GROSSMONT COLLEGE (Press Releases)– In the movies, college students descend on vacation beach spots for a week of revelry during Spring Break; as for myself, I plan to watch as much professional baseball as possible. Meanwhile, a random survey of 11 students indicated that while some will be traveling on their vacations, most will remain at home.
Travelers will include Chris Davenport, who plans to “go camping/ backpacking at the deserts or mountains;” Amber Wetting, who expects to visit Grand Canyon University in Arizona; and two Mexico-bound students Josh Duffy, who’ll get there on a cruise ship, and Micha Smith will travel there over land.
Among the seven students planning to stay at home, two were already anticipating some fine wave action at the local surfing spots. Jonathan Vasquez said he would “bomb some nice hills on that long board with some bro’s., beach it up, work out and whatever else.” Ian Murietto said he’d probably “skate and surf, and just kick it.”
Others anticipated working, sleeping , hanging out, and, oh yeah, doing some homework.
“I’m going to be working constantly and sleeping,” predicted Rubin Pearlman. “I am also going to try to catch up on some major assignments.”
Said Ashley Jackson: “I’m going to be working at Souplantation — Yay– and going to try to catch up on my sleep and hopefully party hard.”
Working some extra hours was in Nicki Ray’s plans in order “to pay for outrageous gas prices.”
Cyrus Bogzaran could summarize his Spring Break plans in one word: “Xbox.”
And Matt Groff groused: “I’ll spend my one week of Spring Break wishing I had two of them. One week is not enough!”
