NOTRE DAME, Indiana (USANN4) — The state of Indiana has fined the University of Notre Dame $77,500 for six safety violations linked to the death of student Declan Sullivan. The junior from Illinois was killed last fall when the hydraulic lift he was in toppled over in high winds.
Sullivan was filming football practice when the incident occurred. Reverend John Jenkins, Notre Dame’s president, said the university will study the state report and take necessary actions to protect students and staff. The school has already announced it is replacing the lift with remote-controlled cameras.
