Female faculty faring better at M.I.T.

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (USANN4)– A new report says that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is doing better in its treatment of female professors.   Twelve years ago, the institute issued a scathing report on gender inequity on campus that drew national attention.   Since then, the report says MIT has hired, promoted, and supported more female science and engineering professors.

It adds that the progress has had some downsides.   For example, some female professors worry that their colleagues think they don’t have to meet the same standards as men on the faculty.
