President, Grossmont College
GROSSMONT COLLEGE — This week, we will commemorate the more than 25 million Americans who have served in our Armed Forces. We honor them for their love of county and their willingness to serve. We have liberties and freedoms because brave men and women answer the call to serve and our country is forever indebted to our veterans for their courage and exemplary service.
We are especially honored to have among us a number of faculty, staff and administrators who served in the military and also an additional 1300 student veterans at the college. During this week we will have a number of campus related events that we hope you will take the time to support. These events include:
A fundraiser barbeque organized by our extremely dedicated Student Veteran Organization.
The event will be held in the 500 quad area on November 9th at 11:00-1:00 p.m. The $5 per combo plate raised will help support our student vets and also get you a fabulous lunch.
We will host an open house event in our new veterans resource center located in building 21, room 253 on ground floor.
Please join us on November 9th between 3:00 and 5:00 to tour the center, learn about how it supports our student veterans in attaining their educational goals and enjoy some light refreshments.
All GCCCD offices and services will be closed on Thursday November 11 in honor of Veteran’s Day. Please take the opportunity this week to say “THANK YOU” to a veteran.
